Getting Started with MyTeacherHelper.com (create account, create classes, enroll students)

Welcome to MyTeacherHelper.com’s Help Blog. Here you will find useful information on how to use our site to help you with classroom activities. With this page specifically, we will walk you through the process of creating an account, creating a class, and enrolling students within your class. This help file will “Get You Started” using the system.
1. Creating and Activating a Teacher’s Account
The first thing you need to do is create a teacher account. This is done by clicking on the “Accounts are always free” tab or the “Register” link on the main page. You will then see a form that will ask you just a little bit of information in order to establish a new account. Enter your e-mail address, a password, confirm your password, and select Teacher for the account type. When you are finished, click the continue button.
You should then receive an e-mail message with an account activation code. Activate you account by entering the activation code on the “Activate Your Account” screen. This link can be found on the main screen.
NOTE: Teachers who supply an AOL e-mail account may not receive the activation code e-mail. MyTeacherHelper.com is currently working on a solution to fix this issue, but this may be some time. We suggest using a “non” AOL account as an e-mail address.
Once you have activated your account, you are now ready to begin creating your classes.
2. Creating Classes
The next step is to set-up your classrooms. Classrooms are used to manage all of your students as well as track the progress of assignments. When you login to MyTeacherHelper.com you are automatically taken to the Teacher Site page, where the helper utilities are then activated since you have a logged on as a teacher.
The first utility you will want to work with is the Classroom Helper. We suggest creating a test class so that you can try things out before you assign them to an actual class. So this tutorial will walk you through creating a test class.
- Click on Classroom Helper
- From the menu on the left, click on the “Add Class” button.
- Change the name for your new class to “Test Class”.
- Enter the Class Time, in our test class just enter “Test”
- Enter a description for your class.
- Click the “Save Class” button.
That’s it! You have created a new classroom. Some notes about the classes. When you view your classes, they will always be sorted by the Class period. This is so that you can setup MyTeacherHelper.com to simulate the chronological order of your day. Also, you can edit or delete a class at anytime.
3. Enroll Students in Classes
The final step in the “Getting Started” process is enrolling students within your classes. This can be done several different ways, but you should know the following:
STUDENTS CANNOT CREATE ACCOUNTS THEMSELVES!!!!
You create accounts for them as you enroll them into a class.
For details on enrolling student, please see the help file “Managing Students”.
